Hey. I have just read that Carlos Castaneda died during the writing of "Tales of Power" & that he had a student who took on his name & wrote the remaining books (The Nagual network) Can anyone spread some light on this?

i've heard the same thing. And i'm betting from the same person. Ask yourself this: What does it matter in the grand scheme of things? If he did die then, will it affect how you live your life now?

Well, if it is true, then I'll be damned but someone is a really good copy of Castaneda's prose style. The writing was seamless to me. Of course, if you are writing like a sorcerer, then maybe that's the way you write. But Tolkien's son and Herbert's son can't write like their dads, and you can tell in a cartoon when the writers have changed -- that's not very much prose to go on at all! Pelch, I say -- if it were true, someone would have proved it by analysis of style.

Well you can choose to believe this person or you can believe without believing. As for this article, the only redeeming thing in it is that Castaneda view of Don Juan's teachings. He was interested (at least at first) in shamanism, power plants and not freedom...That's why Don Juan had to do all the pseudo-indian crap (his words) that makes up the bulk of the first book.

Everything else in the article, i don't believe. And how can Don Juan be the last of his lineage? He was 4 sided. He can only continue. 3-siders like Castaneda are capable only of closing.
