A problem with expressing personal experiences, is just that. They are personal, and don't necessarily relate to anyone else. But since that's why we're here, I'll express my feelings on the matter.

Omens are everywhere all the time, it's the voice of the abstract. However, without seeing we can only make judgments and interpretations which are filtered through our inventories. The clearer we become the better the interpretation may be.

I used to get caught up in trying to interpret omens, to the point that it drove me crazy, because I was in a constant state of confusion and uncertainty.

I finally was able to ease up when I realized that it was impossible for a non-seer to make accurate interpretations of omens. Therefore I think the best thing to do for beginners is to go by what don Juan talks about in the early part of Journey to Ixtlan. Paying attention to the agreements of the world.

At a certain point my life went from constantly being pulled back and forth by the voice of the spirit, to a constant movement forward. When one takes everything as an agreement, there doesn't have to be any interpretation involved. It's not necessarily as easy as that (depending on how critical a thinker one is), but it certainly broke my obsession.

That's not to say that one shouldn't still pay attention to everything and be cautious. I'm just mentioning one aspect which I've found important.
