I don't believe that self awareness stops or is supposed to stop with inner silence. Perhaps self infatuation yes, but with inner silence comes much greater awareness of the body and the world.
I haven't yet reached the level of silence required to see, but the amount of silence that I have reached has shown me that I am much more aware of what is going on around me when I stop talking to myself.
It does seem a bit scary at times when the silence goes on for long periods. It sometimes feels like I might slip away, or lose myself. But I feel that that is just part of losing self-importance. And facing that is a part of overcoming fear.
I feel that it is important to trust oneself. Know that we will pull through, no matter what. We have to believe we will succeed.
