Ha, ha. Nobody had a look? Or just couldn't be bothered posting?

I guess it might be preaching to the converted. The author was probably directing it more to Matrix fans as a real-life Neo experience.

Oh well

I read this a while back. Definitely interesting. Also definitely one of the main reasons that the first of the Matrix series is one of my favorite movies. I was pretty let down by the sequels though. I guess a lot of people were.

I know the author. Or knew him. He's dead. Before he went, he showed me a copy of his continued thesis which included comparing and contrasting Castaneda's work with Matrix 2 and 3.

Every time I hear someone say that 2 and 3 weren't as good or just plain shit, I feel like giving them a copy of his thesis. I wish I could, especially after having read Encounters with the Nagual. I don't know if this guy read Armando's book or whether he could just 'see' the situation from his inner silence.

I've been meaning to watch the other two again sometime soon. They weren't too bad, it's just that I think I expected too much from them.

Here's some things I was hoping for, or that just disappointed me.

I thought Neo's power should have continued expanding, knowing as he did that he didn't have to follow the rules of the matrix, and he wouldn't have to continue physically fighting the agents. After all, at the end of the first Matrix he didn't have to touch Smith physically, he just dove straight into him and destroyed him from the inside. I assumed he would continue with this and refine it, use it more powerfully.

I would have really liked to have seen Neo training others to be more like him, such as for instance a Nagual might do.

Things were just kept too mundane. It's like the second two didn't continue the thread that the first one was following (in my opinion).

And then of course there was the scene where everyone was basically worshiping Neo. To much Christian allegory involved (IMO).

But all that is over and done. Perhaps new and better movies regarding these types of ideas will be presented eventually.

Just something to peak your curiosity (or to sustain mine!):

Carlos didn't train anybody because he's not a regular Nagual but a 3-pronged.

Neo didn't choose to save the 'human race' (instead Trinity) because he's not a regular 'the one' therefore didn't have to choose "16 females and 7 males" as the Architect said. Instead, he chose the 'other door'.

Neo is the Carlos equivalent.
Just like Carlos brought a new era for everyone to take advantage of (as described in Encounters with the Nagual), Neo brought a new era for people still stuck in the Matrix; hence the end scene when... well, if you're interested, you'll check it out!
