Tensegrity and Martial Arts

Now i have an important question (for me) to ask you: i remember when reading one of your posts, you mentioned a brief encounter with kung-fu. I am just beginning to learn the Magical Passes (from the book and also the DVD), and read there that Juan Matus recommended Marshall art, and that one of the ladies in his group (or earlier) traveled to the East to study it. I have always been fascinated with marshal art (mostly the discipline and spiritual part of it); do you think that the Magical Passes can substitute entirely kung-fu, Tai-chi-chuan etc? I hope it is, and want your opinion.

amos.

I don’t want to in any way imply that I am an authority on this matter. But here’s an opinion from my personal experience.

I have practiced the magical passes very intensly at times and then not so intensly at other times. I know that there is enough force and magic in them to completely take the place of any other form of physical exercise. However, my personal preference is to have numerous physical activities going on at the same time.

I read somewhere that Don Juan had suggested that Carlos practice martial arts to gain discipline and force in order to apply that to his magical passes. And I have found this to be true for myself as well. But I don’t think it necessarily has to be martial arts. It could be anything I suppose. Yoga, running, walking, weight lifting, swimming, sports… anything physical, done impeccably, could give more impact to your magical passes and vice-versa.

And it certainly doesn’t hurt to eat well too 🙂

Power foods

Does anyone have any suggestions for diet? I’m trying to find foods that will give me the energy and strength necessary to handle many days of non-stop action. This seems to be the tendency right now for me; to cram many things into every single day. At times, I don’t quite have the energy for it, and my mood starts to shift toward the negative.

I tend to eat pretty healthy, but I’m just not sure if I should be eating more carbs, more protien, more meat, less meat, etc. More food in general? Weight isn’t an issue for me. Energy is the only issue.

Are there any athletic people in here who have any dietary advice for warriors?

Workshops

Has anyone on here ever been to any of the tensegrity workshops or classes put on by Cleargreen?

Le Parkour

Is anyone else here familiar with le Parkour? When I first watched a video of Parkour in action, I was completely amazed. Seems that new boundaries of human possibility are expressing themselves once again. Here’s a great collection of Parkour videos:

And some introductory information:

Imagining the Tenth Dimension

This is interesting. It’s a demonstration of string theorists’ concept of 10 dimensions. Each dimension is described visually with flash

Hello!

Hello, my name is enso±ar.

Obviously many of us here will probably have no desire or need to give out a bunch of personal information. But I thought that an introductions forum might be nice anyway. After all, we all have found this forum, this path, in one way or another and a little introduction will be good to help us get to know each other a little better.

I already sort of put my introduction in the welcome statement in the “Open Forum”, but here’s a little more…

I discovered “A Seperate Reality” when I was in junior high as I was seeking books about hallucinogenic substances. I checked it out from a school library, and somehow ended up never returning it, even though I didn’t actually read it for a few years.

I had a strong interest in “god”, spirituality, mysticism, etc. from an early age and this continued on into adulthood. However, it wasn’t until a friend suggested I read “Tales of Power” that I finally was introduced to these amazing books.

I was at once completely “hooked” as they say. And to this day the struggle and the fascination continues on.

I started this website because I couldn’t find any other website and forum that, at it’s core, was based directly on the works of Carlos Castaneda and Nagualism. There once was a site, “nagual.com” that was very close to being such a thing, but at a certain point the direction of that site shifted rather drastically. I have no complaints or issues with that. Yet it did give me a desire to start one myself.

And so this sums up my basic introduction. I’m quite excited to begin meeting more people out there who are interested in this amazing path.

Secrecy and the New Wave

Where do you feel this is all going?

How has Nagualism / the works of Carlos Castaneda affected you? In what ways have you put it into effect? Are you overly secretive? Have you left your family and friends? Has your life and energy improved from your practices?

Carlos Castaneda wrote some books that allowed anyone in the world to have access to knowledge and techniques that have been formulated in secrecy for many thousands of years. But what will we do with it?

Don Juan told Carlos that one day he may ditch the shamanistic rituals and go in a new direction. Well, he may not have said that exactly, but something along those lines. (I believe he mentions this in “The Wheel of Time”)

Maybe it’s just me, and what I’m going through at the moment. I go through periods of following the methods presented in Carlos Castaneda’s books very intensly, and then at some point, I’ll ease up for a while, and just let go. And it feels like the intensity followed by a release is causing a greater and greater feeling of freedom within me

I’m more than slightly rambling here, but what I’m trying to get at is… What do you think it means to be a sorcerer/warrior in this moment in time? Do you feel that any of the techniques and methods need improving or updating to live in society today?

I personally feel like I’ve seen a definite evolution of mood going on in the updates and practitioner comments on the Cleargreen site.

Basically, I’m trying to start conversation here, and trying to understand some things that are going on in my life. And I’m trying to understand which direction to go in. I’ve been living in secrecy in some aspects for a long time, and I’m considering easing up. It feels like easing up and not trying to be so secretive will lift a weight off of me. The secrecy in itself lifted a great deal of weight, but now the secrecy itself is beginning to feel heavy.

What are your thoughts on secrecy?

Reaching the Threshold

Does anyone have any specific techniques that have helped them reach greater depths of inner silence?

I have trouble getting past just a few minutes of inner silence at a time. It seems that no matter how much I remind myself and feel determined to hold the silence for long periods, I somehow slip back into internal dialogue over and over again.

There have been a few times where I was able to stay focused for longer periods, but those are really few and far between.

I’m not really sure that any advice from someone else could help much, but I am just curious of other people’s experiences with inner silence and techniques used at reaching it.

The one from Castaneda’s books that has helped me the most is “listening to the sounds of the world”. At times I focus in on just one sound that I randomly pick out and try to stay with it as long as possible, and keep coming back to it as I begin drifting back to thinking. At other times, I try to listen to everything at once in the same manner.

Through this technique I’ve discovered that it is possible at times to split my attention and listen to the sounds and think at the same time. I know this isn’t stopping the internal dialogue, but it does take the focus away from it when I just can’t seem to be quiet. It also helps when trying to listen to a person or speaker. If my mind starts wondering, I have been finding that I can let my mind wonder and still pay attention to what they are saying at the same time. For some this might just come naturally. For me, it is a breakthrough 🙂

Would anyone else like to share some techniques that have helped them reach inner silence?

Speaking of Tensegrity

It seems strange to me, that of all the Castaneda related message boards and groups i’ve found on the internet, no one seems to be talking much about magical passes.

I know there are people out there doing them. I’ve been to a few workshops and there are lots of people there. On the Cleargreen website, there are loads of practice groups listed around the world.

I know that a great aspect of this knowlege is action instead of talking, but that doesn’t stop people from talking about other topics; dreaming, stalking, etc.

Does anyone have any experiences or questions about Tensegrity they would like to discuss?

I for one can’t get enough of the magical passes. They slowly creeped into my life until they have now become a constant thing. And they are changing me. This I know for sure. They have helped me in numerous ways. More energy. More powerful decisions. More calmness. More clarity, etc. etc.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?
